At Veritas Risk Management, we believe in more than just managing risks; we believe in actively shaping communities for the better. Situated in one of the most economically challenged areas of Washington County Schools, Lamar Elementary faces unique hardships. Recognizing this, we partnered with True North Real Estate and worked to alleviate some of the school's needs.
Lamar Elementary's guidance counselor and staff shed light on the school's challenges, revealing its status as the second poorest area/school in the county. They highlighted the ongoing need for used kids' clothes and shoes, especially following a recent tragedy where a student's family lost everything in a house fire.
On the designated day, we arrived with essential supplies: 576 markers, 800 crayons, 400 pencils, 72 expo markers, and 60 units each of boys' and girls' deodorant. Additionally, we contributed 132 individually packaged snacks for the school's food closet. These contributions aimed to alleviate immediate needs and to offer a sense of support and solidarity to the school community.
Beyond the tangible donations, we aimed to communicate a powerful message of care and support. We wanted to demonstrate that even in the face of adversity, communities can come together to uplift and empower one another.
As February came to a close, the partnership between True North Real Estate, Veritas Risk Management, and Lamar Elementary served as a testament to the power of collective action. It illustrated how organizations can make a meaningful difference by working hand-in-hand with communities in need.
We're committed to continuing our support and finding new ways to empower the school and its students. Together with True North Real Estate, we're not just managing risks; we're building bridges and strengthening communities. We aim to be an example to other businesses in our area. By understanding the specific needs of local schools and communities and taking targeted action, organizations can play a vital role in creating positive change and fostering a sense of belonging for all.
